We’re packing up today to spend Christmas away from home (the first time in 25 years). It’s not away-away, because we’re taking our family with us, and we’re only traveling an hour to Sonoma. Alex is in Sweden, with her dear friend Andrea, and her family. We will get Brendan and his family. We will also have ukuleles, wine and games. So good, yes? Kate and Brendan have been here for several days, and last Friday the four of us drove to San Francisco to see the Ai Weiwei show on Alcatraz Island. I wrote more about the show here. It was pouring rain (which we loved, even though it made us a little miserable), so we warmed up at Heath Ceramics (Blue Bottle Coffee and beautiful things) and wandered to Clarion Alley, before dinner at Chaya. It was awesome, all of it (well, maybe not the wet jeans part).
I’m going off the grid-ish, so have a wonderful holiday, full of resting, renewing and rejiggering. I appreciate you, and I promise I will show up a little more often next year. See you on the flip side, my friends.
