welcome to oregon, would you like to meet some cousins?

Or “cuzzins” as we call them in Tennessee. Not that we’re from Tennessee, but our grandfather was. Our trip to Oregon was for a Cuzzin’s Reunion. That is my mom’s mother’s sister’s side of the family, plus my mom’s side, plus my mom’s 80th birthday, which we have been celebrating forever. Kate and Alex were able to join us, along with about 35 others (I never did get an accurate count). Three houses, eleven families, many twelve-year old boys, and a few Isabell’s (with variations on spelling, of course). We stayed in SunRiver, which was wonderful and warm and beautiful. I am still not clear if these were third or fourth cousins, but everyone showed up with an open heart and ready to engage and connect. Mom and her sister, Aunt Brenda, made history books for all of us, and Dad and I made a family tree. I realize Kate is missing from most of these photos, and truthfully, it doesn’t capture the five days. But believe me, it was awesome.

Let’s start with our view…

Then to the party (which was ongoing):
