Last year I wrote several posts about the San Francisco Giants. They included our 33rd wedding anniversary weekend here, and a photo of Steve with a delightful woman we met while hanging out at McCovey Cove.
We talked to her for a long while and we honestly couldn’t tell if she was awesome or nutty. Perhaps just awesomely nutty. Later in the year we saw her on TV, as the broadcasters announced her birthday and had the stadium sing to her.
This past weekend we accidentally discovered that our fancy-seat tickets gave us access to the Club museum, which had display cases full of autographed balls, bats, bases, exhibits for significant games, and presumably the World Series trophies (we saw the cases, at least). Plus a few photos of particularly colorful fans.
I did a little research and found this on the Giants Flickr site: “Joyce Frybarger, 91, of Castro Valley, has been coming to opening day for several decades.” I also found a short video of her at the World Series parade.
So while she could be a little nutty, she is awesome for sure. You too, Steve. You both look great in orange!
