I am slowly recovering from one of the best weekends ever. This was a meet up with my cousins and their spouses, 48 hours in Northern California that included, well, everything. Here’s the outline…which may confuse you more than help you. My cousin Wendy is married to Mike. Her brother is also Mike, but he wasn’t with us. Wendy’s mom married Bob when I was in college. His son is also Bob, who is Mike’s age (brother Mike). Bob is married to Margaret, who is a friend and has been a client. Bob and Margaret’s daughter, Danielle, is a year older than my Alex, who is the same age as Wendy and Mike’s son, Austin. Dani plays basketball for Humboldt State and she had games at Sonoma State and SF State this weekend. That was our excuse, anyway. We talked about this at Christmas, but I don’t think any of us believed we could pull it off. We did and it was fantastic.
Day one, Sonoma. We stayed on the Sonoma Square…tested the Bloody Mary’s in the Hotel El Dorado (where we were staying), had a fabulous lunch (and wine) at the Girl and the Fig, chose our designated drivers for the evening, and did a little more wine tasting (thank you Steve and Margaret). We went to Dani’s game and then finished off the evening in the bar where we started. And that was just the start. More tomorrow.
