cousinapalooza 2012

We’ve been on the road for a week, celebrating and cousining. We had Christmas at my parent’s house, for the first time in 23 years (the last time Kate was 9 months old, and since then Santa has always come down our chimney…though this year he had very fancy GPS and we thought we were safe to travel). We loved being in their home, family colds and all, and had an awesome Christmas dinner at my cousin Wendy’s home, filled with cousins and cousin kids. Kate was with us until noon on the 25th…sad face…but happy she had a safe and uneventful flight back to Chicago. On the 26th we drove up the coast to Pismo Beach to join Steve’s folks and his sister’s family for three days of cousin-paloozing. It included long walks, jumping, games (and a moment when I was laughing so hard I really thought I might never, ever be able to stop and would float to the ceiling like Uncle Albert in Mary Poppins), clam chowder in outdoor patios, and lots of Grandma Adeline’s cookies. We’re home, and officially checking the gym schedule (because someone had to pay for all that celebrating and I believe it was my body) but boy was that some fun.
