a capay valley sunday

Steve and I closed out a very lazy weekend with a Sunday afternoon hike in the Capay Valley. The weather’s been incredible, and I’ve been wanting to explore this area. Capay Valley is due west + northish of us, and is fabulous farm country, accented by a new, huge Indian casino (also one of Steve’s favorite golf courses, Yocha Dehe). We set out for Frogpond Trail, which we never found (well, we found the trail after a detour, but not the pond or the frogs). However, the climb was worthy and wonderful. On the way back we bought some persimmons from an elderly farmer who had been sitting by his truck all day. And then we stopped by one of Kate’s old barns (the one I swear was held together by spiderwebs and rat poop), just to remember that time. We sent her a picture from Steve’s phone and she responded, “cool, but why?” Because it was all worthy and wonderful, I guess.
