coasting | part one

After we dropped off the girls, we headed west to Newport on the Oregon coast. Oh, what a good idea that was! The first night we finished off more than one bottle of wine with our friends Ron and Wendi (who dropped off their daughter, Madie). I won’t tell you how many bottles, but we had to call the hotel front desk for the best “walkable” restaurant. We stayed in Newport (quietly) for another day, and then headed south to Bandon, recently heralded by Sunset Magazine as the place where nothing ever happens.

Nothing, that is, except walking on the beach, finding rocks, breathing, eating crab and drinking a little more wine. Yup, I can spend a few days happily doing nothing like that. And I can’t wait to go back and do it again.
