how does a family of three pile up so many dishes so quickly?

Yup, that’s all I have for you today. I tell you, one misstep with the dishwasher, one skipped cycle and there they are, dishes and cups and wine glasses and coffee mugs and pots and pans, all queued up with no place to go.

This morning as I yelled up to Alex in the dark, I thought to myself, “Thursday is the cruelest day.” On Wednesdays she has late start, which means she doesn’t get up until 7:30 and doesn’t leave the house until 8:30, which is much more reasonable on cold mornings. But Thursday we’re back to early, and it’s not yet Friday where you know Saturday is next. It’s just Thursday, and without the Cosby Show or Thirtysomething or Cheers or LA Law. Somehow TV and takeout Chinese food made Thursdays be a little more manageable.

Now we have breakfast for dinner on Thursdays. And tonight we have Game 2 of the World Series (go Cards) and maybe Alex’s St. Louis T shirt will be here in time. Steve has a cold and I am trying to be kind, but also trying not to share.

I did find something on Pinterest that’s a little lighter than yesterday, and perhaps appropriate for a 79 degree autumnal day where I am lucky enough to have a kitchen with dishes that go on forever, a warm home and a healthy-ish family.
