like fine wine, he’s better with age

Steve had a birthday this weekend. We are officially both in our mid fifties. Weird. Let’s just leave it at that. We knew we wanted to do something fun today, but neither of us were up to planning or pressure. So at 11:00  this morning (after presents of course),  we thought about wine tasting in Napa Valley. We made sandwiches and left at 1:00, and let the car decide where to go. It’s easy it is to forget that we are an hour away from one of the most amazing regions in the world.

We started at Silverado Vineyard (great views, good enough wine) and ended at Frog’s Leap (great setting, great wine, great people and they gave us tomatoes and basil from their garden). At Frog’s Leap, we sat on the patio and tasted four wines, paired with cheese and other goodies, and then they poured us two more. Oh, and they comped our tasting because it was Steve’s birthday. When we got home, Alex made Steve her famous homemade oreo cookies. Mid fifties? Perhaps not so bad, after all.

Entrepreneur had a birthday as well last weekend (24h). Ours was more subdued as there weren’t any kids around.
