vacation report

Or, as we will refer to it from now on, the trip that provided (many) opportunities to reset expectations and readjust our reality.

Yeah, that. The trip where nothing went as planned. Not one thing. However there were other things. Like this. (Mammoth Lakes, in the Eastern Sierra…incredible).

And this. Lake Mary, where we were staying, at 7 am.

We learned a few things…when you don’t know what to do next, sit still. Dashed plans make room for new ideas and experiences. Pay attention to the Trip Advisor reviews. Bringing your own corkscrew is always smart. Nature trumps all. And it’s not always horrible to leave a day early. However, no one in their right mind just “stops” in Yosemite Valley (especially in the middle of summer) for a glass of wine at the Ahwahnee Hotel.

We’re home, and happy to be here. Everyone is healthy. And my computer is headed to the shop. Back in a few days. Missed you the most.

Do you remember David Goodman from our ADAC days? He once told Frank, “Look to the day without preconceived expectations and you will never be disappointed.” I have always remembered that statement and practice it as much as possible. It works! I’m glad you saw the beauty of the area and hopefully it eased some of your disappointments.

Welcome home! We missed you too.

Always had a fantasy of staying at the Ahwahnee. Sigh.

Beautiful photos. Sounds like a great trip, mixed in with some not so perfect moments. You always seem to make the most of them though, and that’s what I love about ya!
