Fair warning….I’m going to stretch this out to two posts, maybe three. And just in case you wondered about teenagers today…let me just say (again), they are awesome. And not just mine…pretty much all of them.
So Alex had a vision to celebrate her 16th birthday by cooking an Italian dinner for her friends. I tried to talk her out of it. She had two weeks of rehearsal, and I gained more confidence (she never doubted herself). Steve strung the Christmas tree lights from the ceiling, I bought the white tablecloth and scrounged the Sharpies, convinced we would have a keepsake of friends’ signatures and wishes (and it turned into so much more). I bought cheap wine glasses (12 for $9.99) and a slew of Italian sodas. I helped make the list (ok, several lists) and then tried to get out of the way.
Oh, and she got a Kitchen Aid for her gift. In pistachio. She named him Cameron, after Cam in Modern Family.
